Blast from the Past

I will never forget my first grade cookbook. In first grade each student had to include their favorite recipe. Of course all the other first graders chose recipes like chocolate chip cookies, macaroni and cheese and lastly brownies. I was not your average first grader, while every other child was getting high off of sugar I was busy putting together my favorite meal. Sarit's tomato Veggie soup. Who would have thought a seven year old girl would pick vegetables to be her pick of choice.

This is the list of ingredients I used for my first grade cookbook. Coming across my first grade cookbook was so nostalgic of the days I would cut up my veggies and put together my favorite dish. Today my favorite dish remains the same.

Sarit: Hello Everyone I am so pleased to announce the creation of my first very own cooking blog. Cooking has always been a passion of mine and finally I will be able to share this hobby of mine with all of you. Since the age of five I have always loved helping around the kitchen. I guess you can say that my first real experience with the kitchen was when my father bought me my first very own fake kitchen set. I'm sure he didn't know then that my love for cooking would stay with me this long. Since I am Jewish and follow certain dietary restrictions none of recipes will include any of the following ingredients: shellfish, pork, any mixing of meat and milk products.

Hello there reader, I just wanted to take a moment to Thank you for taking time to look at my blog. I really hope you enjoy what I have created for you and hope to hear from you soon. Please if you have any comments or questions DO NOT hesitate to ask. I am here to give you advice and assist you in creating various delicious recipes. My style of cooking various from dish to dish, so you can always expect a wide range of flavors from across the world. I have a very mixed background and therefore I am able to change my styles of cooking so easily.

Common questions people ask.....

-The most common questions I get from people when it comes to cooking is " How do you know what ingredients to use and how much to put in." I can't always explain this answer, in my opinion, someone who has mastered cooking, is someone who knows which flavors work best together as well as knowing how much of it to use.

-"You're so young, how do you know how to cook." Another question that is hard for me to answer. Cooking has nothing to do with age, it has all to do with the amount of passion you have for your work. You can taste passion in the art of cooking and for sure in your finished work.

- " Who taught you how to cook." There isn't one person who has full responsibility for my cooking styles. I have picked up various cooking styles from different people with different cooking backgrounds and somehow squished them all together to form the way I cook. I love trying new recipes and forming new recipes from flavors picked up from foods that I have tasted along the way.
